I am a woman-owned business, registered in Travis County, Texas, Photography by Kathi Herrin/Kat Kards, established 8/20/04, DBA: Art Works by Kathi Herrin. My products include paintings, drawings, photography and greeting cards.

I studied Art in high school and college in the late 60’s and early 70’s. The courses included painting, sculpture, drawing and design. I relocated to Austin from Dallas in 2000 with my husband. After becoming established in the Austin work force, I returned to college to continue my studies in art and photography. I am currently working part time as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper for an architectural firm and also work at the Dougherty Cultural Arts Center in Austin.  I attend classes during the Fall and Spring Semesters working toward my degree in ART.

I have an inventory of 35MM Black & White Photographic images that I photographed, developed and custom printed under the guidance of Professor Ann Paterra, an accomplished photographer, whose images are on file at the Harry Ransom Center in Austin, Texas.

I studied 35MM color photography as a member of the Wildflower Center Photo Team 2004-2005 at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas, under the direction of professional photographer, Randy Kerr. I have a collection of 35MM Color flower images that are posted to my website.

I became a member of the Creative Arts Society of Austin in June 2005. I currently serve as a Board Member and Chair for Publicity 2007. With this group, I am able to gain exposure exhibiting my photography and artwork in venues throughout Austin. We have group exhibits scheduled in Austin, Texas for 2007 at the City of Austin Public Library Yarborough Branch, Austin Community College, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Cypress Grill Restaurant, Corridor of Art Chase Building Downtown Austin, First Presbyterian Church on Mesa, First Unitarian Church 4700 Grover and The University of Phoenix Austin Campus. In 2005, we had the honor to exhibit at the State Capitol Building in the Lower Rotunda through the State Preservation Board. This was a prestigious and beautiful show, and our group will sponsor a Capitol Exhibit Mar 24-31 in the Lower Rotunda.  I photographed the image of the capitol building that we are using on our announcement flyer. The Creative Arts Society is an exciting dynamic group of photographers and artists, which presents a wonderful network for opportunities and outlets for my products. To learn more about our group, please visit our web address at: www.creativeartssociety.org

I also am a member of three other art organizations: Artists of the South Corridor Buda Texas, Multicultural Artists Partnership Austin Texas, and AVAA Austin Visual Arts Association.
